Mental health fatigue

48 pounds down

This week’s weigh in was a bit of a challenge because I gained a couple pounds camping. I have NO control around chips and candy, and they were everywhere on that trip. Plus we got rained on the whole weekend so all we did was eat. It was a fun trip, but not good for the waistline! Thank goodness I got back on track the Monday we got back by going to the gym and making a big pot of zero point chili. I don’t care if it’s officially summer, chili will always be a staple in this house. And the fact that it is zero points? Heck yes. I already lost a pound of what I gained which I’m super proud of!

I’ve been in a bit of a plateau for the last few weeks, going up and down 1-2 pounds consistently. It’s been quite frustrating. I feel like I’m doing everything right but the scale is not agreeing with me. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been working out consistently so I am gaining muscle…or if the minor slip ups I have are bigger than I think they are. I know I’m not perfect…but I hardly ever eat all my weeklies in a week (because I have a lot of activity points) and feel like I should be losing more. I’m a little discouraged.

I have something more serious I would like to talk about. My mental health has been a huge challenge for over a year and I now realize that it was because of my mental health that I started with content creation. I have officially stabilized and now I am incredibly sedated on my medications which is making it incredibly difficult to be creative behind the camera. When I get the energy to cook that’s all I want to do; it’s hard to teach right now. I think it’s safe to say that I am burned out from this extended mental health episode and need to take a break from creating content. I still want to blog because I love to write but my videos are going to be going on hold. I’m hoping I will find the spark again, even if it’s every two weeks or changing the content schedule. It makes me incredibly sad to put a hold on things when I have people who follow me and my weight loss journey…but I have to focus on my health right now. I don’t want to force it behind the camera; I want to be authentic and real. It’s so sad with how my medicine can change my personality. I know I need the sedation right now because of other life stressors…so I’m not going to decrease the dose or anything just yet. Hopefully I will find the creative spark again to create more videos…but for now I need to rest and recover.

Let’s talk about this last video I am releasing. This bean salad from Greta Podleski’s cookbook is incredible. Her entire cookbook is incredible, really. I even took this bean salad camping and it was really, really good. It’s so fresh and just the right amount of crunchy. It is perfect for meal prep because it lasts a few days in the fridge. Once I made this salad I dreamt about it afterwards! It was that good! I had to share it on my channel. So I hope you enjoy this last video before my break!

Until next time.

  1. Love her cookbooks! Do you have others that you use as well? You are one if my favorite creators and I glad you are taking time for you. Hugs

    1. Hey! Sorry for the delayed response. Two other cookbooks that stand out are The Rebel Diet by Benji Xavier and Keep it Simple Ya’ll by Matthew Bounds. They are both good finds. And aw you’re so sweet! I’m still struggling but we will see what the future holds.
